About Drumbowie Art

Under the moniker of Drumbowie Art, I returned to painting back in 2018 after a 20 year hiatus. Deciding to face my fears and take a leap into the unknown, I launched my website and social media in 2021, and then dabbled as an artist. Since 2024 I have been registered as a small business as an independent artist, and i haven't looked back.

My love of art started early in school and followed me through my senior years, culminating in winning prizes for my paintings as an older teenager. I continued to paint during my university years, but as life evolved and responsibilities increased, art took a backseat in the fabric of my reality.

Now, several years on, with an extensive career in psychiatric nursing behind me, I find myself in the fortunate position to be able to pursue my passion once again, and even better, being able to earn an income from it.

I enjoy painting landscapes and nature, and have a particular fondness for miniature scenes and working on a small scale. I am primarily a Plein air painter and you can usually find me out in the scottish weather braving the elements with my trusty tripod and oil paints. I also enjoy painting birds, and have a fondness for oil pastels. Really I love pretty much most art mediums and definitely have the secondary hobby of collecting them!
I'm fortunate to have a studio at my home, and also to be able to rent a larger space in The Old Pistol Factory in Doune, in rural Stirlingshire. I am also a partner in a small gallery/gift shop named CreateED in Kirkintilloch, as well as an active and involved member of my local art club in Falkirk.
